Welcome to the Ashburnham and Penhurst Community Website.

Have a look at the Diamond Jubilee webpage

Please see the link on the left for details of the programme of events for the Jubilee celebrations in June.

If you have any ideas or comments about the fund raising efforts, or would like to get more involved, please speak to any of the fund raising committee (listed on the webpage).

Ashburnham & Penhurst Website Registration

This website is for everyone who lives in, or has close links with, the parish of Ashburnham and Penhurst.

You do not need to register or log on to read the information on the website or find details of events.

But it is a good idea to register - because you will then get an automatic email notification whenever a news item is added.

If you've got something to tell the village about, it's easy to post something on the noticeboard (you will need to have registered to be able to do this), which you can find under 'Community Services' on the left.

**To register, go to 'Community Services', 'Register' and follow the instructions.

A brief introduction to Ashburnham & Penhurst

The scattered hamlets of Ashburnham and Penhurst were once at the heart of the Sussex iron industry.  The last furnace closed in the early 19th century.

The website Ashburnham Past is a great source of information about Ashburnham and its history.

Ashburnham Church, dedicated to St Peter, stands between the remains of the Ashburnham family home (the last member of the family died in 1953) and the stables.  Ashburnham Place - the house and surrounding parkland – is now a Christian prayer centre.

Penhurst has a church in an especially attractive setting, consisting of a Manor House with a roadside pond and farm buildings. Construction of the church began in around 1340 with substantial extension in the following hundred and fifty years.

There is also a United Reform Chapel at Ponts Green.

Our village is home to a village hall, a cricket pavilion and playing field, and the Ash Tree Inn.

Traders' pages

If you have a business or service to tell the village about, you can create a 'trader's page' (for a small charge, payable to our web hosting company).  Please see the link on the left.

Alternatively, you can simply have a link to your existing website (free of charge) - please get in touch if you would like to do this.
